Psychology Crash Course – Fundamentals Summary

As part of my psychological studies, I have written many seminar papers and consumed a lot of relevant content. The learning process was:

  1. Study materials. Also, consume additional info regarding the subject from a different source (e.g. YouTube, books)
  2. Take raw notes
  3. Iterate on the notes to make more sense/easy to read and grasp, s.t. when I read it in a week (or later) for spaced repetition, it makes sense and I can easily recite
    • Construct questions based on notes (ChatGPT can help here) and ask self those questions without looking at the notes
  4. While studying psychological concepts, try to apply them (e.g. how is X motivated, what is in their procedural/semantic memory, what can we conclude about the person, etc.)

One of the content mediums was YouTube, more concretely, Psychology Crash Course. It contains 40 videos, each with an average duration of 10 minutes. These videos explain some of the fundamental concepts in psychology. In addition to that playlist, I also found the book “Psychology: A Complete Introduction” by Sandi Mann to be good supplementary material.

The book is structured into three main chapters: Talk, Dreamwork Seminar, and Intensive Workshop. In this overview, I’ll cover the key points from each section. It has over 300 pages, is dense but valuable. I’ll be highlighting the most significant concepts throughout.

Only consciousness changes our reality and not thinking. So one has to be conscious of one’s reality and he is a theater director directing the actor/patient to play all the parts. Whoever opposes the actor must be confronted. First start by explaining the dream, next set the stage for the dream by acting as a stage director.
